The goal of the project was to make over 100 tapestries and an out-of-scale “The Human Safety Net” logo in fabric for the Procuratie Vecchie in Venice. The project included the design of ad hoc solutions to fix the fabrics on the ancient hooks on the window frames.

The project by Migliore + Servetto Architects was based on the contemporary reinterpretation of the ancient historical tapestries by Generali. So they have been reproduced in the same size and hooked in the same way.

The fabric chosen to make the tapestries was a 400 g double-sided satinette fabric. The use of latest generation printing technologies has guaranteed high quality and color fidelity, contributing to create the wow effect of the installation.

Tailoring: this is one of the key words that have distinguished this project. Each element was custom-made and the maximum attention to detail. The crates for transporting the tapestries were also produced for the occasion, to protect the fabrics and easily reach their destination in the historic center of Venice.

After 500 years of history and an accurate restoration site led by David Chipperfield, at the beginning of April the Procuratie Vecchie, the iconic complex in Piazza San Marco that runs from the Clock Tower to the Correr Museum, opened to the public.
Three entire floors of the building have become the headquarters of The Human Safety Net, the Assicurazioni Generali Foundation born in the name of inclusion, innovation and sustainability.
